Anteater: Background & Facts
The anteater belongs to the group of so-called toothless mammals and is an unusual animal. You can recognize it immediately by its long head with a narrow snout and its extremely long, sticky tongue, which it uses to get ants and termites out of their nests. Its body looks compact, but with its bushy tail and strong front legs with large claws it can defend itself well and break open hard nests. In the wild, the anteater lives mainly in Central and South America and usually roams alone through grasslands and forests. When you learn about the anteater, you discover a wild animal that is perfectly adapted to its special food.
